GONG!
Letter a roommate of mine sent to a gong manufacturer...
Hello,
Three roommates and myself have always envisioned a gong in our abode, centrally located and for the purpose of announcing to the rest of the house a successful conquest in the bedroom. Started as a joke and has now become a serious desire. We have recently moved into our new house which just happens to have a built in "shelf" in the corner made between 3 bedrooms. It's perfect for a gong. Now we need the largest and loudest gong, for the least amount of money that will fit comfortably in that space. (All 4 of us are either 5th year undergrad or master's students at Virginia Tech, so money isn't exactly freely flowing).
If I gave you the measurements and/or a picture of the proposed space, do you think you could suggest a few gongs that might fit our requirements? If so, you tell me the best way to describe it to you or send you a picture and I'll jump right on it.
Manufacturer's response...
I am pleased to hear that a gong may be used for such a noble porpoise.
Yep. Give me the size of the space - because the Gong stand takes up space too.LXWxD will help.
And the general size the room. Picture is okay too for room. But I need measurements of shelf if that is where you plan it to go.
That will help me suggest the best gong for the money.
Thanks,
EPIC...

...technology...
"The client sat on this camera during the VT vs. ECU disaster."
That is what the guy at Best Buy put on my service request for my new digital camera. I thought it was funny. Needless to say, my one month old camera is broken because I forgot that it was in the back pocket of my uniform and when we sat down for ECU to perform it met with my reed case and cracked the screen. Oh well....at least it's getting fixed.
The game sucked...don't want to talk about it. It was one of the hottest games that I have been to, but I still have high hopes for my Hokies this season. We'll see about this whole Tyrod red-shirt shinanigans here soon...

It smells like Asian...
So between Process, Planning, and Design, me, Brandon, Jeff, and Jon went to AJ so Jeff could use his sister's computer to print something off for class. On the way up someone mentioned that it smelled in the stairwell. Right as a girl of Asian descent passed me I said "It smells like AJ in here." Apparently evenyone thought I said it smelled like Asian. Needless to say I felt really bad that it sounded like that and I now wonder what that girl thinks of me. It is funny to a point but also bad...so I apologize to anyone I may have offended today...
I am really enjoying my new computer. It runs a lot faster and Vista isn't too bad...yet. There have been a few issues I have had with it but nothing to get me to downgrade to XP. I am going to see how it turns out. I figure this computer is built to run Vista so it should be good. Other than that, I wish my webcam would be able to communicate with those of my friends that have Macs and iSights...oh well.
Well I was just asked to head Downtown....later!
oh yea....NO CLASS TOMORROW!!!! :-)

DUDE!..You're getting a Dell...
So my computer decided to kick the bucket yesterday. Not cool. I went to Best Buy to try and get them to finally honor their "No Lemon" policy. No such luck. "We can't make that call hear." They have to send it off for 1-3 weeks and let Geek Squad HQ (aka Satan's other asshole) make that call. So needless to say, with the warranty running up in two weeks I just but the bullet and got a new one. It's a Dell...wish i could have gotten a Mac, but I guess that will have to wait until after college.
It's been a stressful week so far...hopefully it will calm down now...

...that's what it's all about!
Well, I just survived my last band camp of my college career. It was a lot of fun and very tiring. I think that we have some awesome rookies and that this year will be a blast...as always. One of the biggest things that I am excited about is that I get to be on the fence this year for football games!
Classes start tomorrow....kinda. I have one class tomorrow at 1:25 and then band. So not a huge day for me. I really don't start class till Tuesday when everything hits. My Tuesday/Thursday...
8:00 - Process, Planning and Design
BREAK (aka breakfast)
11:00 - Construction Practice I
12:30 - Intro to Geotechnical Engineering
BREAK (aka lunch)
3:30 - Real Estate Law
5:30 - The Marching Virginians
HOME
...that is the price I pay for no Friday class I guess.
"and i pinned it up on my bulletin board, because i was amazed at how large it was"
Carly made my weekend with this quote... :-)

Tattoos...
Conversation with Caitlyn last night...
Caitlyn: "So I don't think I am going to get a tattoo anymore..."
Me: *laughs*
Caitlyn: "Would you ever get a tattoo for any reason?"
Me: "The only tattoo I would get is if I did something really big on the world stage. Like a lot of the people in the Olympics have the Olympic Rings tattooed on them. So, I would do something like that."
Caitlyn: "So you would only get a tattoo if you were in the Olympics..."
Me: "No. I mean if I did something really cool that was really hard to do. Like if I became President I would have to get the presidential seal tattooed on my arm."

Tech Sweet Tech
I AM BACK IN BLACKSBURG!!
It feels great being back and I am already having an awesome time. Last night I was asked to dinner by Caitlyn, Lauren, and Stephanie and I thought it was just going to be like the four of us and maybe a few other people. It ended up being, me, Stephanie, Caitlyn, Lauren, Cory, Cory's brother Rory, Elizabeth, Stephen, Special K, Stephanie, Chris, Kate, Jan Michael, and Maura. Freaking awesome time! And as we were walking out we saw B. Wood, Dane, Mike and Krista at another booth. Again, freaking awesome...I cannot wait until Thursday and back at band :-)
The drive back to Tech took me about 6 hours thanks to traffic between home and Richmond. I had to go up 143 to Busch Gardens to avoid a back-up and then there were two accidents two miles between each other right before 295 which was awesome. And I had two people from UVA cut me off between Richmond and Staunton which just added to my love of that school...
POOKUMS=licence plate of person from UVA who cut me off....yea just going to leave it at that...lol
Not going to lie...I am very excited about this coming year and I cannot wait for everyone else to get back up here. I have already been out with a bunch of MVs and went downtown with Jonnny. This week is going to be a blast...
Also, at Sharkey's last night I saw Bill Roth, the voice of the Hokies...AWESOME!...I love this town.

Two Weeks!!!!
I am counting down the days till I go back to school. Two weeks and I will be back at Tech. I cannot wait!
Right now I am house sitting my brother's house while he is on his honeymoon. He is enjoying a week down in Florida at Disney World and Universal Studios. But I get the house all to myself and get to experience what it's like to be back at school away from the rents for a while. Don't get me wrong, I love my parents but I also like being on my own.
The wedding went really well. The biggest thing that went wrong was that the wedding cake was like a half an hour late getting to the reception. So in others words there were no real problems that happened. We did have a drill sergeant of a wedding coordinator at the church. It was very comical to me and a bunch of my friends. I felt like I was learning drill at the rehearsal and I started counting in my head when I had to make turns and stuff. Hopefully I didn't mess up too badly for her...lol.
But I have to say the funniest thing was a comment from my Dad. We shows up the the rehearsal dinner early to set up and they offered us something to drink. My dad had a beer and this was the conversation my dad and mom had...
Mom: "Well I think we should head to the church. Do you want some gum to cover up that beer smell before you walk into the church?"
Dad: "Why? Jesus made water into wine and I'm sure his breath smelled like alcohol from time to time."
Freaking hilarious.

I'M BACK!
Hey everyone! Long time since I have updated this thing. So here we go again...
Well my brother is getting married this weekend and everyone in this house is starting to get stressed out about everything. I just finished a slide show that will be shown at the rehearsal dinner. It's pretty good. Not really as flashy as some of the other shows I have done, but I think it will work great. So now that that show is out of the way, that is one less thing my mom can "remind" me about...lol.
I am best man at the wedding and I think I am ready for it. All I have to do is make sure my brother is there...right? Haha... I know I have a few more things to do but I am good and should be ready for my toast and all.
In other news, I am ready to get back to school for my final senior year...yea Mr. 5th Year here...lol. Oh well, I love Tech and cannot wait to get back up there. I am really excited about the house, marching band, football, and seeing all my friends again.

SILENCE!....I kill you....
Just chilling in my apartment right now watching Jeff Dunham's stand up. If you do not know who he is look him up on YouTube. He does stand up with puppets and all and it is hilarious. Watch Achmed the Dead Terrorist and you will understand why he is really funny. If you can also probably catch him again on Comedy Central.
With that little aside, school is kicking my ass right now. I only have a half week left and cannot wait for it to be over. This coming up Thursday is the grand opening of our new Building Construction building, Bishop-Favrao. All the donors are going to be there to see it and enjoy free food and open bar. All I know is that I will be all over that open bar..lol. I have to give a tour to some people from the Associated Building Contractors since they gave me a very nice scholarship for next year, but that should be fun. I am looking forward to the free food and music that will be there...did I mention the open bar?...lol
Tomorrow is my concert for Campus Band. I am really nervous about it, not because my part is hard, but because our percussion section is not the greatest in the world. There is going to be one song that will probably fall apart and it is not going to be pretty. Other than that it should be a good concert. The concert is at 3:00 is anyone is interested..lol.
My parents are coming up again this weekend for the concert. It's been pretty sweet seeing them these past two weekends. I haven't seen them since spring break and it's good to see them...plus the free dinners :-)
If anyone is interested I have a Twitter account now. I am still trying to figure out how to use all of its features but I have the basics down. Check it out if you want.... http://twitter.com/bose2k4

Here we go...
So I have noticed a lot of people have a blog here on blogger.com and I have decided to give it a try to see how all this goes. Welcome to my little piece of the internet and hope you enjoy my somewhat interesting life...haha.

Today was nothing special. The biggest thing to happen is my starting this blog. I have decided to start using the BT as much as possible to hopefully save on gas and I think it has been a good move on my part. Hopefully, next year I am going to apply to work for the BT. Stephen has gotten me interested in working for them and the thought of me driving a bus is just funny to me. We'll see how that goes and hopefully I will be driving around Blacksburg in a shinny, somewhat new, 40 foot bus.
The biggest thing that is going on right now is the one year anniversary of the shootings here on campus. I cannot believe that a year has passed since last April. Since the start of the week all I can think about is how I felt after hearing of the news. I sat in my dorm room just watching the TV, hoping to hear good news. Tomorrow the Governor and President Steager are talking to the campus on the Drillfield in front of the memorial, and then tomorrow night is the candle light vigil. The MVs are meeting at War Memorial before the vigil and I think I am going to meet up with them. I know I was not apart of the MVs when all this happened, but I see them as one of my families here at Tech and I want to support them as much as I can.
That's it for now...
We are the Hokies.
We will prevail,
We will prevail,
We will prevail,
We are Virginia Tech.
